Vectorgraphics specialises in layout and design of anything that can be printed: corporate profiles; packaging; brochures; point-of-sale; magazine ads; presentations; promotions... everything but fake money.

Wait... let me start at the beginning:
Vectorgraphics is a small below-the-line design studio consisting of... well... me, Alison Gouws: Gemini-of-all-trades. I also, when the occasion dictates, work with some brilliant associates: June "queen of branding" Mason and Horst Güllemann, cartoonist and illustrator extraordinaire. Between the 3 of us, we have 95 years of experience in advertising, which makes all of us ancient... or my math skills a bit dodgy. You decide.

I originally qualified as a Journalist from Technikon Pretoria (a.k.a. Tshwane University of Technology), after which I did a 2-year stint at Pretoria Child and Family Care Society, compiling their Annual Reports and Letters of Request. This was pre-Mac and all the designs were done "lick and stick".

I then worked for the Gauteng Provincial Government for 2 years. It was there where I discovered the miracle that is Apple MacIntosh (a.k.a.' Mac' or 'Apple' or 'that pretty computer on my desk').

Next stop was DTP for 2 years after which I accidentally ended up at a below-the-line ad agency where my design skills and artistic attitudes were honed.

In 2001 I went solo and haven't looked back since. (Partly because I'm a 'live-in-the-moment' kinda person and partly because of bungee accident that made it really hard to look back.)

In these pages are a small sample of my work over the last decade or so.
